bbPress Development Visual Roadmap

Today, WPCandy published the WordPress 3.1 Visual Roadmap which was pretty awesome. So, I thought I would create a similar video for bbPress. I used Gource to create the video and please note that first video is of the trunk version and second video is of the new plugin branch (bbPress as a WordPress plugin).

TeuxDeux – Best To-do one can have!

I know there are a lot of To-do apps out there and some of you might just stick with paper and pen because they rock (I believe the same) but sometimes I can’t carry my diary with me all the time. Moreover you can’t access it until you are actually carrying your stationery.

I found an excellent solution for myself and I hope it turns out to be pretty useful too.

Here is my scenario:

I always have to maintain a to-do list of what I need to do tomorrow.
I try to finish all the work, starting with the top priority ones.
Remaining ones, are forwarded to the list of upcoming day.
And then there is also a list of To-do that you want to do but not sure when you will be able to do it.

TeuxDeux kicks the right spot in doing all this for me. I have set it up as my homepage as it will be the first thing I would see when I kick start my browser in the morning.

It even comes with an iPhone app which can be pretty useful for the awful share of market of iPhone among mobile users. It costs 2.99 USD at the moment.

Wordle let you create beautiful word clouds

Many of us must have seen beautiful clouds which shows emphasizing more on certain words as compared to other words as if they all were under the thought process and a few came up as high prioritized.

Wordle.net is the service used to create such beautiful clouds.

Wordle can create clouds from either a bunch of words pasted, from a URL whose RSS feeds can be fetched and lastly from a del.icio.us username whose tags will be used to create the cloud.

In case you want to use a 3D sphere cloud on your website or blog, then you use can use Cumulus for 3D sphere cloud.

Commit Web 2.0 suicide to live a real life

Are you one of those who spends more time online than in offline world? Do you miss your real life? If you do, then you can commit suicide in your online life by this weird but great service – Web 2.0 Suicide machine which helps you actually do that on facebook, twitter, linkedin & myspace.

It requires you to specify your username and password for the service in which you want to commit suicide and it will start an automatic script which will unfriend every friend of yours and delete every trace of you. I am not going to try it but I saw its video and was impressed by the creative innovation of this service. If you want an impact to stop wasting your time doing things online and start living a real meaningful life, then its for you.

I must warn its close to real suicide, once you start it, there is no turning back. You can’t recover anything back.

Orkut adds new Promotion feature

Orkut has added a new feature of promoting or sharing something with your friends. Be it a cool picture, funny video or simple text, you can share anything with your friend list which can further be promoted by your friends and then that will be visible to all of their friends. Cool! Isn’t it?

It can be accessed by clicking on the promote link just below the links below the display picture.

It shows up on the top-right corner of the page just where you might have seen adsense ads.

You can create a promotion right away and the preview is shown side by side.

I have created a promotion of mine too. Its regarding my new project Need A Project. If you are in my Orkut’s friend list then feel free to promote it.

Good thing is that you get some statistics too.

I JUST MADE LOVE.COM – Now that’s an innovative idea

Innovative Idea, I would say. I liked the concept more than I did the logo.

I Just Made Love.com is about marking the places where you made love. It uses Google Maps to show you the world map. You can browse and zoom in to the place which you want to mark. Right click on it, choose either indoor or outdoor & leave a comment.

It has also got a Love Counter which shows how many people has marked the places where they made love. Other things include displaying the results from the last 1 hour, 24 hours, week, month or all the time.

The site doesn’t serve anything useful but coding up and visiting such a site is always a pleasure as it brings up a smile on our face. How did you find the site? Have your say in the comments!

Picreflect create reflection of images

A few months back many blogs were having logos with a mirror reflection of their brand name which in my terms was appealing and worth for the time you opt a professional logo design. Earlier Photoshop or Gimp (Image Editing Softwares) were used to create such effects but now there are automated scripts which can do the same job with a lot of ease. Picreflect (in beta right now) is a similar service I thought would be the worth the share with you.

You just need to make selections such as the height of reflection, transparency and resizing options along with some minor selections. Upload the image either via a direct link from the web or from your computer and click on “Generate”. From the next page, you can save the image on your computer.

Sketchswap – Create sketches and swap them

I stumbled upon a great fun tool named SketchSwap that let you draw sketch in your browser and then you click on “Submit drawing” for approval. Your sketch will swap with one of the approved sketches and I must say they have a good collection of 25000 sketches. Your sketch once manually approved by them will be available for swapping with other users. Also they hold the right of doing anything with your sketches once they are approved. I am not good at drawing and when it comes to drawing with a mouse, it becomes more difficult for me. But all those approved sketches are finer in details as they were drawn using a graphic tablet.

If you are bored with your usual work, this tool for drawing sketches can kill your boredom and remind you of your childhood days. Don’t we used to draw a lot in our childhood?

We all love playing around a bit. Now Don’t we? So this time I am sharing about a service that combines the face detection technology with automated image manipulation scripts (like in photoshop) to create very interesting images. The above screenshot is what all images you can create with your face.

If any single of them was created a image using photoshop, then it would have taken some good photoshop skills and time as ingredient but thanks to services like Photofunia which makes the fun process really simple. You are advised to use images which are of good quality to get awesome results.

I many times came across a scenario where I need to share a bunch of links but the point of sharing links one by one over IM seems ridiculous to me when I have got a good list of links to share. So, Today I am sharing about a service which can let you shrink many url into one url. Its name is Shrink2One.com

How it Works?

You enter a list of links on their site
They create a new page with all those links on it and gives you the URL of their own page

My Opinion

The concept behind the service is good but they lack in their web design which seems a little distracting to me (I mean they could have a interface which is pleasing, Whats the point of showing stats to users who clicked their shrinked link? Instead just show them a option if they would like to shrink links too.) But I must say if I wanted to give you some links related to lets say “WordPress theme Design”, then I can shrink all those links into one and then share that link with anyone I want and that too multiple times.

What you think about the concept of this service? I would also like to have your opinion on its web interface.

Today while struggling with a twitter tutorial to pull out updates on html, I came to know of a service with the help of which you can generate 35+ types (37 to be exact as of now) of loading gif images which you can use in your own projects. The service is based on ajax. It lets you specify the background color & foreground color and then you can generate your own loader gif image. Cool! Isn’t it? Everyone one of us has a username on the sites we are a member of. And the reason why many of us have a unique online codename is just to maintain a single username as a matter of convinence. Isn’t it? Now in this Web 2.0 world, we may sometimes come across a service in which our username is already taken by someone. How to copy images in Orkut Albums

I recently updated my post on how you can copy orkut profile image and now today I am writing about how you can copy images in Orkut Albums as right click is disabled on images in Albums. There are two tricks which can be used to copy images from the Orkut Albums out of which the first one can be fixed by Orkut developers (I will be explaining it later on) and the second one which can never be fixed by Orkut developers.

Trick

Just drag and drop the image onto the address bar or onto the tab and the image will load as if it was opened directly by typing the URL. Now you can right click and save the image.

(Works in Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome)

Bonus Trick

Apart from any trick you can also use the Print Screen method. Press Print Screen on your keyboard and paste the screenshot in any image editor or Ms Paint. Crop the portion you want and save it. Thats it.

Mail Goggles – So that you never regret on sending emails

Gmail has introduced a new feature named Mail Goggles that will make sure gmail users will never regret on sending mails. Has it ever happened to you that you send a mail to someone which you was not supposed to when you was drunk? Is your answer Yes for the question I asked then this feature can be proved really beneficial for you. Once enabled, it will make you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you’re in the right state of mind. By default, it will be activated only on late night in weekends but you can configure it to check your state of mind according to you as we usually dont have specific days for drinking. Isn’t that the truth?

Although there are mix reactions for this feature but I find this feature very useful. Google is known for its usefulness. Be it at work or be it at social stuff.
