Is this BSNL’s Telephone Exchange

To kick start this post, first of all let me tell you about the upcoming revolution in wireless internet service. BSNL offers EV-DO service that is capable of speeds upto 2.4 Mbps and that just in 250 bucks (INR). At present it is in tested stage so it is only available in a few cities and since it is officially launched in Jaipur, Rajasthan (where I study) I went to the nearest BSNL telephone exchange to fetch some more details which is less than a kilometer away and I was shocked to see the condition of that office and it had me thinking “Don’t BSNL care about its reputation?” I don’t deny the fact that our location is in the outskirts of the city but still if they have opened a telephone exchange over here, it should meet some quality standards or norms.

On top of that when I enquired the highest designated person Dr. R.K.Gupta, he was unclear with what I mean by a data card. I took some photos of the office and want to share them with everyone reading this post and would like to have your comments on it.

  1. It is not uncommon for us to see such pathetic conditions. Do not forget that the BSNL officials at the top level are utmost corrupt, and the only thing they work hard for is to pocket crores as bribes.

I have taken an EVDO card, and will probably write a mini-review on my blog. Catch me there if you want to ๐Ÿ˜‰

Right now, I am getting CDMA 1X speed (100-140 Kbps), but that was expected because the authorities told us that it’d take another month for EVDO to be activated in nearby towers. As they say, better late than never! But I seriously doubt their promise.

  2. Just noticed:
FYI, it is not Rs 250 for the EVDO card. 250 per month is for the slower NIC card, and EVDO costs Rs 550 per month (plus cost/rent of card).

  3. Very Good, Fantastic

    Keep it up !

Can I have the link where it says that 250 bucks is for NIC card? AFAIK, One will have to pay 550 bucks if he/she opts for rental plan.

  5. hey i wonder how you got to take all these pictures. This again shows how easy it is to breach around in these offices. Atleast this office is in Jaipur and this is the condition , Imagine at smaller cities. .. ๐Ÿ˜ก

  6. @Kanak
Actually I took the images of the inside room when he was attending a phone call.

  7. well, Its a typical Indian Govt. company. I think these are the qualities of Govt companies in india.I witnessed these myself in my city. I wish that these things change as soon as possible. As this will effect our Country’s progress

I know I am replying very late but here no one mentioned about the a website who is doing great work on BSNL-EVDO.

    the website is http://www.bsnlevdo.com

Its a un-official website but has more information than BSNL authorities.

But BSNL provides very good internet when compared to Reliance, TaTa etc etc…

Airtel Broadband is best after BSNL

    1. Sure they do!
