Irfanview is the best image viewing software I have come across till date and I can surely say that anyone who has tried it must have sticked to it for image viewing and as a light image editing tool. Being a freeware it offers extensive features such as multi-language support, thumbnail option, slideshow, toolbar skins, fast directory browsing, batch conversion/editing, multipage editing, file search, change color depth, scanning, cut/crop, IPTC edit, capturing screenshot, lossless JPG operations, effects (sharpen, blur, Adobe Photoshop filters), EXE/SCR creating, many hotkeys, command line options and plugins.
It is the most fast image viewer I have ever used. With the help of plugins it can also play many types of media files. If you are a regular user or a user who does not have extensive work with image editing, this software will do all the jobs satisfactorily.
Pros:
- Fast Loading time
- Light on resources
- Supports almost every image format
- Skin support for changing the toolbar icons (get rid of the ugly look)
- Plugins support for playing media files
Cons:
- None
I used Irfanview for all my image editing stuff. You can expect some tutorials for image stuff you can do with it in the upcoming days. The setup just has a size of just 1.1MB

Irfan View is definitely one of the best freewares for Image editing with lot of features.
It’s indeed the best! It’s so light, but still has got everything I need ๐

I agree, IrfanView is the best image viewer. I had used it since some years ago ๐
I have used it about a year and a half now and it`s still the best! It should be redesigned now for Vista and it would be perfect if it had a function to make panoramic photos! Anyway, I love it!
@Ebook, Chris
I prefer it for doing simple image manipulation tasks. Quick & Easy.
I don’t really like irfan view that much. Or maybe I don’t know where to correct it’s features.
1. When I scroll I expect it to switch to the next image like most of the image viewers
2. There is no such option where I can set the zoom to automatic fit to window as default behaviour
Plus lots of other things…. I prefer picasa…
Ok lol found the page where these options were present … guess it’s not that bad either… But still I prefer Picasa+Paint.NET combination
