This is article is about how you can update your Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 without any internet connection. It should work for Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 too but I haven’t tried it.
First you will need a computer installed with Kaspersky Internet Security which has access to internet from where you can copy the downloaded updates and then apply them to other computers which don’t have access to internet.
Download and Save Updates
- Open application and select settings.
- Select Updates and then again settings.
- Under the Additional tab, select the option “Copy Updates to folder” and give a path where you would like to store the update files.
- Update your Kaspersky product and the updates will be copied to the folder you specified in previous step.
Copy all the files of that folder to any computer which you would like to update and then proceed with the following steps.
Installing Updates
- Open application and select settings.
- Select Updates and then again settings.
- Under the Source tab, Add a source and specify the path where the update files are located on this computer.
- Now manually try to update it and it will update itself from the update files you just specified.
Update: Downloads for KAS & KIS 2009 will not be available now. However you can download updates of KAS & KIS 2010.

But i dont have internet connection. so i downloaded the cumu.zip, weelky.zip and daily.zip. and it says databases are up to date while updating but later it says databases are obsolete. Hey i goofed up big time. I had a licensed version of KIS 2009. While formatting my system i uninstalled it and forgot to tkae back up of the key file. Now i dont have key to it. Is there any chance i can recover it. (I dont have the carton either).

As suggested by Choto Cheeta, we don’t you download it once from a high speed connection and then use your dialup to update constantly. The updates size will not be massive, less than a MB in most cases.

so u see after the ” Network operation timeout expired ” ,again the same files r downloaded and this happens again and again. so any idea what i should do ?

Your internet connection is to blame for this. KIS starts the update process again once the network timeout occurs. So, instead of directly updating the KIS, try downloading the updates from here (from a fast internet connection, not from your connection) and then update it.
If you are asking for a better site than where I have hosted, then I am sorry there isn’t a better choice for it. I host it on a Virtual Private Server (VPS) which is far more better than any other file hosting server. Try downloading from a fast internet connection. You will only be limited by your internet speed. 😉

thanx for responding Ashfame ,actually my problem is very strange as im using a fast sify connection so my max download speed is 60 kB/sec ie, i can usually download 200 MB in 1 hour .this network timeout error has never happened before as i have been regularly updating my kis 2009 sine i bought it last year in september,this problem just started since 2 days ago ,also i would like to mention that at the same time i noticed another thing that some websites r not opening while others r opening fine,for example,google site opens just fine,bit when i tried to open forum.kaspersky.com ,it just loads with opening the page ( i tried both firefox and internet explorer). similarly mant other sites r not opening, some r opening fine,while others r opening partially. i dont know if the update problem and browsing probem r related as idont know much abt such things.
someone told me to try 2 things – 1.Safe Mode with Networking. .tried it but same problem.
2.flushing dns
start – run – cmd – ipconfig/flushdns (enter)
i did this and got the following msg- could not flush the DNS Resolver Cache :Function failed during execution
i dont know what this means, is there a problem with my ISP (sify) ?
also on another website that helps with pc problems ,one person told me to follow these 2 steps-

Scroll down to “DNS Client”, Right-click and select: Properties
Click the drop-down arrow for “Startup type”

Then restart, and test browsing the Internet again

Where did you find that zip file? Kaspersky doesn’t provide any updates to be downloaded, at least not in my knowledge and I recommend you should not download updates from here and there. They may be exploiting a vulnerability to infect your computer with malicious code. However you can trust me 😉
